Four yet to be identified suspected thieves were this morning lynched by mob in Kichope, Ojwina division, in Lira municipality.
A one, Bonny Odongo who was among the suspected thieves survived the incident but with injuries. He is currently admitted at Lira Regional Referral hospital.
According North Kioga police spokesperson David Ongom Mudong, preliminary investigation indicates that the victims broke into a saloon this morning around 3am before they were rounded up by a mob and lynched.
Mudong says three mobile phones and one solar panel have been recovered. The Solar panel is said to be not belonging to the saloon hence the suspicion that it was stolen from some other place.
Mudong however notes that police condemns mob justice.
“We condemn the act of mob justice but encourage the public to strengthen on Neighbourhood watch and timely report incidences to police for proper management.” – Mudong told us in a text communication.
He says no arrest has yet been made but added that police investigations continue.
