Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has suspended the house following a complaint raised by Lucy Akello, the Amuru woman Mp who said that there are soldiers occupying the chaplaincy yet they want to prepare the room for prayer at 1:00pm.
In response to her, the Bukooli central Mp Solomon Silwany took to the floor confirming that the soldiers are in the place of worship. He was quick to add that the security men were just there to pray.
This irked Odonga Otto, the Aruu county Mp who stood up and grabbed the microphone from Silwany in a brief confrontation.
Consequently, speaker Kadaga suspended the house to investigate whether there are soldiers in places dedicated to prayers in Parliament. The MPs are to reconvene at 2PM to debate on the proposed age limit removal bill. This follows a report by the parliamentary legal committee presented on Monday, that recommends among others, lifting of the age limit.
