Senior tactician Allan Kabonge who recently signed a four year contract with Lira United FC may be setting out for an exit from the club. When Kabonge signed for the Lira based club, fans breathed a sigh of relief with high hopes of the club ascending to Azam Premier league because the new coach has a rich and encouraging history of sending clubs to Uganda’s highest league. The clubs Kabonge coached and ascended to higher competitions include Onduparaka FC and Masavu FC among others.
Heartbreak may be along the way for Lira United fans and well wishers as the Kabonge who earlier set a target of sending the club to Azam Premier league may be leaving citing rot in the management of the club.
He says the club’s management among other things has failed to provide training equipments. “Imagine my players don’t even have training boots?”- He told our reporter.
Kabonge however added that he is in talks with the club’s director, Bishop Ibrahim Okello over his future at the club. He says once they fail to agree on a leveled ground he will be quitting the club.
Emmanuel Awany, the club’s spokesman reacting on Kabonge’s grievances, said the coach is over stepping his limits of involving in management issues yet his job description bounds him to only coaching.
Lira United had a poor start of the season in the big league after falling to 0-1 defeat at home by Kamuli Park FC in the league opener last Thursday.
