Aruu county MP, Odonga Otto has notified Evelyn Anite, state minister for finance(investment and privatization) of his intention to sue her for saying that he was drunk when he went to parliament while drunk and tried to get money to support age limit from state house on live television.
Through his law firm Odonga Otto & Co advocates in their letter, he quotes the Koboko municipality MP saying:
“Hon. Odonga Otto was drunk and was raising those issues under the influence of alcohol, so people should not take him seriously…. Hon Odonga Otto was even drink driving… Hon. Odonga Otto went to state house to ask Museveni for money for lifting age limit and he was denied that is why he is bitter in the house… because he was denied money.”
Anite uttered the statements on Thursday following Otto’s request during the parliamentary proceedings to have Anite paraded before the parliamentary disciplinary committee for exposing the names of the NRM MPs who support removal of age limit. Otto said the lives of the Mps are now danger. He also faulted Anite for saying they have the backing of the army as they bid to kick off presidential age limit. To this, Otto said Anite scared Ugandans with the statement.
In their notice of intention to sue letter, the law firm is asking the Anite to pay Otto UGShs 300 million. Otto is also demanding Anite to publicly apologize for her statements against him.
