10 suspects on Friday night escaped from Gulu Central Police Station. According to reports, the suspects took advantage of the 10PM heavy rain pour and made their way out of custody.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa region police spokesman said the suspects were waiting to be arraigned in court. He says the countrywide strike by the judges were the reason the suspects were taking long to be taken to court.
The suspects, whose identities are yet to be established reportedly created an escape path from the lower side of the door shutter. The door is said to have been heavily fed on by rusts and it requires replacement.
10 police officers attached to the station have been arrested for neglect of duty following the escape.
