Trouble for Tom Arac, the former LC3 chairperson of Kamdini sub county has escalated after a 14 year old girl he allegedly defiled tests positive for pregnancy.
Arac is currently being held at Oyam Central Police Station facing the charge of trespass.
He was arrested following a complaint by his neighbor John Ogwang who told police that Arac last Friday night entered one of the huts on his compound where he made sexual advances to his daughter. Ogwang explained that the minor rejected and instead responded with alarms calling out for help. At this point Arac had already stripped off his trouser, shoes and shirt. Arac reportedly fled into hiding after his attempt to defile the girl stalled.
Consequently, Ogwang filed a case at Atapara police station. The officers went to the scene and took Arac’s property as exhibits. Police then trailed Arac and arrested him from his home on Saturday morning.
The Oyam District Police Commander Najibu Waiswa says Arac will now be facing an extra charge of defilement after test results on the girl shows that she is 3 months old pregnant. Arac allegedly has been defiling the minor for a while now.
The girl’s relatives want Arac to take care of their daughter and be charged with defilement. Joseph Olel a leader from the victim’s clan says Arac is an habitual sex offender that should not be allowed to escape justice this time.
Arac is however not new to controversies. The former LC3 chairman who served in Aber Sub county for two terms before moving to Kamdini has been in and out of police for several different cases. They include theft and defilement.
