Police Foils Planned Demonstration Over Apac District’s Weak Administration

There is heavy deployment of armed police at the district headquarters of Apac as residents threaten to carry out massive demonstration against district leaders over alleged embezzlement of public fund .
At around 9 am this morning , the anti riot police were deployed following the planned protest allegedly masterminded by Kwania Law maker Tonny Ayo.
David Mudong Ongom , the North Kioga Region Police Spokesperson confirmed this to us this afternoon.
This comes just in less than a week after the Parliamentary committee on Accountability on Local government ordered police to investigate the district’s local government officials during a meeting in Lira town.
Last week, the parliamentary committee ordered Bob Okai , the Apac district LC5 chairman along with other district officials to record statements at the police following their failure to account for public fund.
Meanwhile the Kwania county member of parliament Tonny Ayo who was accused of masterminding the protest , has refuted the allegation. He however said angry residents are collecting the signatures to petition the office of the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura and president to show their grievances over the poor administration by the officials of the district.
The residents according to Tonny Ayo are demanding for immediate removal of the district officials from Apac district.
