Court Of Appeal Declares Kaabong Woman MP Seat Vacant


Court of appeal has today nullified the election of Christine Tubo as the Kaabong district woman member of parliament.

Tubo ran to court of appeal in Kampala after her election was nullified by Soroti high court, over voter bribery.

A panel of three justices of the Court of Appeal comprising of Justice Richard Butera, Justice Owiny Dolo and Justice Kenneth Kakuru maintained that Tubo was elected irregularly declaring Kaabong woman Mp seat vacant.
Tubo was ordered to pay her rival, Rose Lilly Akello damages and costs of the suit.

After the ruling, Tubo said she’s not surprised and promised to rerun for the seat.

Rose Lilly Akello welcomed the ruling saying justice has finally been served. Her lawyer, Bosco Okiror said the costs and damages Tubo will meet as of the Court pronouncement will amount to about shs 600 million after he has finished its preparation.
