Apaa land clash victims have rejected food relief donated to them by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) saying it must first be tested for poisonous substances by a chemist. They claim this maybe be a plot by the government to kill them for it can take their land freely.
On Monday OPM sent 5,000 kilograms of beans and 50,000 kilograms of maize flour for distribution to the displaced persons at Apaa Trading Centre, Amuru district.
Kilak North county Member of Parliament Anthony Akol yesterday said the victims want non-food items like jerry cans or basins if it wants to help them. Earlier, the Kilak South Member of Parliament Gilbert Olanya accused the first deputy prime minister Gen Moses Ali for masterminding the attack on residents that resulted to eight deaths and hospitalization of several others.
The victims are also angry over failure by the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda to visit them when he went to Amuru district on Monday to establish the cause of the clashes.
