An irate mob this afternoon broke into Loro police post, as they tried to break out a murder suspect for lynching. Armed with sticks and stones, the mob reportedly broke the door and windows of the police station after overpowering the officers present.
According to Loro LC3 chairperson Robert Ekwaru, the suspect only identified as Obong Oyuku 29, was saved after reinforcement from the central police station and from the army was made. He was whisked away to Oyam district central police station. Oyuku was arrested in connection to the murder of a Boda Boda motorcyclist who was on Monday killed by unknown robbers while robbing his motorcycle.
He is currently being held at Oyam Central Police Station.
After failing to capture the suspect, the mob that comprised of friends and relatives of the slain bodaboda ryder reportedly started shooting at the security officers with stones injuring an army officer. Calm was restored after the officers fired teargas and bullets in the air.
Ekwaru condemned this act, urging residents to always allow the police carry out their work as mandated by law.
